Holly Ridge Happenings

A slave was once sent by his master on an errand that did not suit him. He did not want to go, but he went as his master commanded him.

When he came to a river, he turned back, and said,  “Master, I came to a river, and I could not swim across it.”

“Well, was there not a ferry boat to take you across?”

“Yes, there was a ferry boat but the man that manned the boat was on the other side.”

“Well,” said the master, “ did you call to the ferry man to come and take you across?

Whatever our hands touch we leave fingerprints! On wall, on furniture, on doorknobs, dishes, books, as we touch we leave our identity. Oh, please where ever I go today, help me leave heart prints! Heart prints of compassion of understanding and love. Heart prints of kindness and genuine concern. May my heart touch a lonely neighbor or a runaway daughter, or and anxious mother, or perhaps a dear friend. O shall go out today to leave heart prints, and if someone should say “I felt your touch,” may that one sense by Your love touching through me.

Holly Ridge Happenings

One night a snake while it was looking for food, entered a carpenter’s workshop. The carpenter, who was a rather untidy man, had left several of his tools lying on the floor. One of them was a handsaw. As the snake went round and round the shop, he climbed over the saw, which gave him a little cut. At once, thinking that the saw was attacking him, he turned around and bit it so hard that his mouth started to bleed. This made him very angry. He attacked again and again until the saw was covered with blood.

Worship gets you through the hardest times in your life because it shifts your focus from the problem to the Problem Solver.

The sweetest time of the day is when you pray, because you are talking to the One who loves you the most.

God can’t fill you when you are full of yourself. Don’t twist the Word to fit your life. Instead, you should untwist your life to fit the Word.

Blessed is he who finds wisdom. Happy is the man that finds Wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. Prov. 3:12

Holly Ridge Happenings

One Sunday morning at a small southern church, the new pastor called on one of his older deacons to lead in the opening prayer.

The deacon stood up, bowed his head and said, “Lord, I hate buttermilk.”

The pastor opened one eye and wondered where this was going.

The deacon continued, “Lord, I hate lard.”

Now the pastor was totally perplexed.
