Rayville, Mangham post wins

The Rayville Hornets defeated the Viidalia Vikings 40-14 last Friday night.
The win boosts the Hornets to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in district play.
This Friday, the Hornets will host the Mangham Dragons.
The Dragons are coming into the game after a 54-34 win against North Caddo.

Mangham Dragons defeat DCS Gators 57-6

The Mangham Dragons defeated the Delhi Charter School Gators 57-6 last week.

Cam Wilmore put the Dragons on the board with a touchdown in the first quarter. The PAT was no good and the Dragons led 6-0.

Tae Gayden hit T.J. Johnson with a 20-yard pass to bring the score up to 12-0. Gueydan then ran in the tw0-point conversion for a 14-o lead.

A 20-yard run by Wilmore  and a kick by Kolby Poindexter pushed that lead to 21-0. Gayyden scored again on a 42-yard run to push the lead to 27-0. Poindexter missed the PAT kick.

Riverfield Raiders cinch MAIS district title

The Riverfield Raiders were in action at home this past Thursday night as they hosted the Brookhaven Academy Cougars.

The weather was wet due to the beginning stages of Hurricane Delta. A steady drizzle of rain throughout the game couldn’t dampen the spirit of the Raiders, however, as they were glad to be playing at home. This was only the second game the Raiders have played on Joe Meeks Field all season.

Public school teams return to football fields

Richland Parish public school teams returned to the football stadiums as the season got off to a delayed start.

In the first week of play, the Delhi Bears defeated the Delhi Charter School Gators 34-0, the Mangham Dragons defeated Richwood 47-30 and the Rayville Hornets lost 55-12 to the Union Parish Farmers.

The Delhi Bears took their first win of the season by shutting out the Delhi Charter Gators 34-0 last Friday night.

Raiders defeat Bayou Academy Colts, 33-7

In yet another road trip, the Riverfield Raiders secured another victory this past Friday night in Cleveland, Miss.

The Raiders defeated the Bayou Academy Colts by a score of 33-7.

The Raiders got on the board first late in the first quarter with a nine-yard passing play where Trent Ginn connected with Brier Williamson resulting in six points. Ginn added one on the PAT.

 The first quarter ended with the Raiders leading 7-0.
