Richland players named all district

A number of Richland Parish players were named to the Class 2A all district teams.
Bradley Cleary of Mangham and Demarcus Clark of Rayville were named as defensive linemen.
Derrick Dawson of Rayville, James Thomas of Delhi Charter and Zach Williamson of Mangham were named as linebackers.
Tyler Haynes of Rayville and J.T. Smith of Mangham were named as defensive backs.
Nick Gee of Rayville was named as defensive flex, Cam Wilmore of Mangham was named as return specialist and Chase Franklin of Delhi Charter was named as punter.

Hornets continue winning season

Since our last report the Hornets won the prestigious Big E Rayville tournament with victories over Neville (108-58), Union Parish (80-38) and Ouachita (65-52) in the finals  in a game much closer than the final score indicated as the Hornets were only ahead 42-40 with 1:30 left in the first half.

Next was the Don Redden Classic Tournament at Ouachita. It was the 5A West Monroe team again who played much better. The score was tied at 42 at the 4:09 mark in the third quarter. A closer game than the 81-65 score indicated.

Delhi Bears defeat Sicily Island Tigers, 48-19

The Delhi Bears defeated the Sicily Island Tigers 48-19 last Friday night.

The victory boosts the Bears to 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in District  play.

The Bears took a narrow 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched it to 24-19 at the half. The Bears defense shut down the Tigers in the second half, allowing them to lead 32-19 at the end of the third quarter and 48-19 at the end of the game.

The Bears split their yardage evenly in the game, gaining 205 yards and two touchdowns in the air and 206 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Dragons fall to General Trass

The Mangham Dragons fell 36-20 to the General Trass Panthers last Friday night.

The loss drops the Dragons to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in district play.

This week the Mangham Dragons will travel to Ferriday to take on the Trojans. 

Ferriday comes into the match at 4-3 overall and 3-0 in district.
