Hornets defeat Dragons
The Rayville Hornets defeated the Mangham Dragons 34-24 Friday night in a district game.
Rayville is 2-4 overall and 2-1 in district play following the win while Mangham is now 5-1 overall and 4-1 in district play.
Rayville’s James Powell Jr., hit eight of 16 pass attempts for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Rashad Naylor took down four of the passes for 63 yards and a touchdown while Cameron Autman caught one pass for 20 yards and a touchdown.
Also gaining passing hards for Rayville were Samuel Sledge with two catches for 33 yards and Jacob Grace with one catch for 15 yards.
Mangham’s Adam Eley hit one of seven pass attemps for 14 yards, Brandon Haynes caught that pass.
Rayville’s rushing was led by Cameron Autman with 11 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown, while James Powell had 10 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown and Samuel Sledge had nine carries for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Donovan Haynes led Mangham’s ground attack with 35 carries for 154 yards and three touchdowns.
In addition, Tyler Haynes ran 10 times for 31 yards, Cam Wilmore ran four times for 24 yards and Adam Eley ran six times for 12 yards.
Kolby Poindexter added one PAT on two attempts.
The Hornets will be at home this week to take on the Delhi Charter Gators. The Gators are 3-3 overall and 2-1 in district play.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Oct. 13.
