To the Editor:

The coming holiday season is a joyous time of the year. It is also a dangerous time of the year to be driving. Most accidents are preventable. It only takes a little effort to drive safely and obey traffic laws. Failure to observe traffic laws can be costly in damages and loss of life.

Some of the major causes of accidents include:

1. Driving under the influence of alcohol. If you drink, don’t drive.

2. Speeding.  It better to be a little late than not get there because of an accident.

To the Editor:

The Town of Delhi would like to thank everyone for their participation in the second annual Delhi Christmas Parade.

It was an honor to have you present at our event. Your presence, enthusiasm, and positive spirit helped make this parade such a joy for the citizens of Delhi. Your participation ensured the success of our event.

We would like to acknowledge all the many residents and businesses that were having to reroute their comings and goings as a result of the parade staging area being in their neighborhood. 

Trump’s year of living dangerously

One year ago, the political earth stood still with the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States. A majority of American voters in 30 states awarded their electoral votes and the presidency to an outsider, a businessman and reality TV star with decades in the public eye, but no experience as an elected official. He won by running against the establishment in both political parties, the media, bad trade deals, and policies of countries such as Mexico and China that he believed were not in the best interest of the American people.

Duke vs. Edwards

Twenty - six years ago this week, perhaps the most consequential and controversial election in the nation’s history took place here in the Bayou State. Edwin Edwards and David Duke squared off in a run-off election for Governor. Not only were voters across the nation fascinated by what was taking place down in the deepest of the deep Southern states. There was worldwide interest in a showdown between a controversial former Governor and the former head of the Ku Klux Klan.
