Outlook

By Melba Hendrix

They say “that time flies when you’re having fun.” Well, I must be having a heap of fun because time seems to have gone by more swiftly in these past few days. Now, whether or not I have been “having fun” is kind of debateful - if you consider that the past week included a visit to my regular doctor and a follow-up visit to our local hospital to have a cat-scan. And, I was allowed to return home afterward, so I am assuming that nothing too alarming showed up in all the testing. My sweet daughter-in-law, Linda, accompanied me in and through all the testing process.

Outlook

As most of realize, time and life is marching on and it’s a losing game in many ways. Somewhere along the way, we may lose friends, money, good looks, weight, time, influence and other qualities.. Then, the pendulum may swing in the other direction. So, it’s largely up to us (with the help of the good Lord) to attempt to gain back some of the better attributes. So, here’s wishing all of us better things along the road of life.

Ain’t

Outlook

By Melba Hendrix

So, how do I begin this week’s version of the Outlook column? I had considered two or three possibilities; but, when I took a closer look at my trusty Cardui calendar which always hangs in place near my dining table, I knew I had to write on a different subject.

The day I noted especially was July 15 - my son, Kirby’s birthday. This brought me up to a reality check in a hurry. So, I will tell you a bit about how I came to live in the lovely state of Colorado where Kirby was born.

Like A Child

Hear me, Blessed Jesus as I say my prayers today and tell me your are close to me and you’ll never go away, Tell me that you love me like the bible says you do, and tell me also, Jesus I can always come to you. Tell me you’ll understand me when other people don’t and though some may forget me just tell me that you won’t. Please Jesus stay real close to me at home, at school, and play for I will feel much braver if you’re never far away. And someday when I’m older I will show you it is true that even as a child my heart belongs to you.
