Piecemakers start year with record attendance

The Franklin Piecemakers started the year off right with record numbers.

Twenty-six met for the 9 a.m. workshop on Jan. 17 in the Fellowship Hall of the Winnsboro Church of Christ. Kathy Huff presented the “10 Minute Table Runner.” Many table runners were completed during this workshop.

Rayville cheerleaders visit London

Emily Douciere and Melissa Freeland were chosen as UCA All American cheerleaders at cheer camp during the summer.

They were invited to perform in the London New Years’ Day Parade.

Melissa and Emily left the United States from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Dec. 26, 2011. They were beginning their first journey across the Atlantic Ocean on a ten-hour flight to London, England. On Tuesday, the pair arrived at Heathrow International Airport in London.

• Paris Wilson, 25; 438 Dacron St.. Rayville; criminal mischief.

• Joseph Smith, 33; 109 Brown St., Rayville; disturbing the peace (general).

• Shone Baker, 36; 210 Jewel St., Rayville; disturbing the peace by fighting.

• Kenneth Griffin, 18; 121 Kelsey St., Rayville; battery on a juvenile.

• Quantarrius Bias, 19; 33 Trio Road, Rayville; disturbing the peace by fighting.

Program deadline extended

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Chief Dave White announced that the cut-off date for the current Conservation Stewardship Program ranking period has been extended to Jan. 27.

Producers who maintain a high level of conservation on their land and agree to adopt higher levels of stewardship are eligible for CSP payments.

• Thomas Staten, 24; Pine St., Rayville; disturbing the peace by fighting.

• Lafayette Williams, 19; 316 Russell St., Rayville; disturbing the peace by fighting.

Free industrial training offered

Louisiana Delta Community College and Northeast Louisiana Technical College will be offering free industrial training beginning in February through collaboration with Northeast Louisiana Workforce Centers, Inc.
