RHS Army JROTC competes in JR Olympics

The Rayville High Army JROTC Rifle Team competed in the 2010 National 3-Position Air Rifle Junior Olympics in Anniston, Ala., on July 11-13.

Over 150 athletes from throughout the United States competed during this match. Each of these athletes must have competed and placed at the state level prior to competing in this event.

Those competing were Ryan Holcombe which placed 6th overall with a two day total of 1091 points while Gary Johnson placed 46th with a two day total of 1053, Jack Lockeby placed 79th and Cody Bernal placed 95th. The RHS team placed 8th overall with an aggregate score of 4189 in the Sporter Scholastic Team competition.

After the two days of shooting, the top eight competitors competed in a shoot off. The shoot off consisted of 10 shots from the standing position. Ryan had the 3rd highest round in the shoot off with a score of 88.9/100 for an aggregate score of 1179.9. Holcombe maintained his 6th position overall while Hannah Weatherford from North Little Rock High School in Arkansas took the top position with an aggregate score of 1194.9.
