Meeting set to discuss salt dome storage project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will host a comment meeting and conduct a site visit July 14 to explore the potential environmental impacts of the Crowville Salt Dome Storage Project proposed by Perryville Gas Storage LLC.

The construction and operation of the project would take place in Franklin and Richland parishes and, when completed, would be able to store a total of 15 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity in two salt caverns.

FERC staff will host the comment meeting at 7 p.m. July 14 at the Crockett Point Baptist Church located at 139 Crockett Point Church Road.

In addition to the comment meeting, FERC staff also invites the public to accompany them on a site visit by foot and by automobile to view the proposed facility’s locations and pipeline route. The examination of the proposed route will be by automobile or on foot. Those who participate on the site visit must provide their own transportation. Those interested should meet at the Crockett Point Baptist Church at 1 p.m. July 14. Staff will not be accepting written comments during the site visit.

The public may also submit written comments on the project through July 27, either by using FERC’s eFiling procedures described in the “Documents and Filings” tab on FERC’s website, www.ferc.gov or by postal mail to The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; Office of the Secretary; Washington, DC 20426.

All comments must cite the docket number, CP09-418-000.

The information will be used by FERC staff to prepare a draft environmental impact statement which will also be available for public comment once it is published.
