Holly Ridge Happenings

“This Too Will Pass Away”
If I can endure for this minute whatever is happening to me, no matter how heavy my heart is or how “dark” the moment may be if I can remain calm and quiet with all my world crashing about me secure in the knowledge God loves me. When everyone else seems to doubt me if i can but keep on beliving what I know in my heart to be true, That darkness will fade with the morning and that this will pass away too. Then nothing in life can defeat me for as long as this knowledge remains I can suffer whatever in happening for I know God will break all the chains that are binding me tight in the darkness and trying to fill me with fear. For there is no night without dawning and I know that my morning is near.
Psalms 30:5 Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.
Stopping in on Tuesday morning was Jean Dunham from West Monroe. I haven’t seen Jean since her mother-in-law the late Estelle Dunham left the Futch road to live near Johnny and Jean in West Monroe. Well I think I made someone’s day Saturday, this guy come in the store and said “its been forty years since I’ve been here.”It was Tommy Cannon from West Monroe (Mrs. Mary Arenders grandson) He got him an ice cream and coke, we reminesed for a while and I remembered a couple of weeks ago the picture in the Beacon of remembering the past with his grandmother’s picture. I found it and gave it to him, he was so grateful he almost cried. He then bought one of the Holly Ridge Milltown Books, He said it had been years since he saw a picture of his grandmother. You never know.
Coming by for a visit on Saturday was Mack and Nelda Haygood, they got ice cream and sat down for a while. He said he would not stop by Ralph Cheeks because he was busy in the yard and he didn’t want to stop anyone from working. Ha! We had a good visit.
Here over the weekend was W.M. Gwin from Ashdown, Ark. and Arthur Gwin from Baton Rouge. They were here for the funeral of their aunt Mrs. Ida Stuckey. Its always good to see those Gwin kids. I belive they spent the night with Bobby and Ruby Smith.
