The Mangham Dragons started pre-season play with a pair of narrow losses to Franklin Parish High School this weekend at Mangham's jamboree.

The B-team fell 14-8 to the Patriots while the varsity lost 14-12.

"I thought we played fair," Mangham athletic director Thomas Tharp said. "Turnovers in the second half were our undoing. Otherwise I think the outcome may have been different. Franklin Parish is much improved and deserves to be congratulated.”

Tharp said a lack of depth made the difference in the jamboree. “They wore us down pretty good in the second half,” he said.

The dragons will begin regular season play Friday night when they travel to Monroe to take on Ouachita Christian.
