Disturbance leads to meth charges
What started as a disturbance in a parking lot, ended with a drug arrest and the confiscation of meth lab equipment.
Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson said his office received a complaint of a disturbance in the Circle K parking lot around 9:30 p.m. March 15 between a male suspect and a female suspect. During the course of assessing the situation. Officer Justin Spillers, assisted by the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, gained consent to search the suspects’ vehicle, thereby locating and identifying several items that are used in creating a meth lab for “shake and bake” methamphetamine production. Officer Spillers quickly defused the situation and transported the suspects to Rayville Police Department, where the were later arrested and charged.
Chief Robinson commended Officer Spillers for his exemplary performance in handling this incident.
“Officer Spillers’ quick response time and professional attitude were key factors in making these arrests,” stated Chief Robinson. “He is one of the newer officers in the department and he is certainly off to a great start.”
Arrested were:
• Tommy L. Lewis Jr., 38, 445 Hwy 852, Rayville; attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, switched license plates, open container and no insurance; and
• Loree Nolan, 28, 865 Harper Loop, Oak Grove; attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“Be forewarned: If you are making, selling, or using drugs in Rayville, my officers will catch up with you and you will be arrested. We will not tolerate drug-related activities and behaviors in the Town of Rayville,” advised the Chief.
Chief Robinson also encourages all citizens of Rayville to report any and all drug-related activity of which you have knowledge. “If law enforcement officers and citizens work together, we can put a stop to this kind of criminal activity that endangers our citizens and disrupts the peace and safety of our community.”
