Funeral services for David Jackson Cater, 78 of Rayville, LA were held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Bethel Baptist Church, Holly Ridge, LA with Rev. Troy Dennard and Rev. Harold Spiller, and Jason Martin-Nez officiating.

Interment followed in McKnight Cemetery, Holly Ridge, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home in Rayville, LA.

David was born November 22, 1931 in Holly Ridge, LA and passed away Thursday, September 02, 2010 in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Cater was a member of Shady Grove Church of God, Holly Ridge, LA. He was a Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of FSA County Committee, 40-years plus Farm Bureau Board of Directors. David was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Carrie Cockerham Cater; sister, Ella Mae Cater; and infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, of 51 years, Louise Hendrix Cater of Rayville, LA; children, Cindy Martin-Nez and husband, Randy of Vicksburg, MS and Gary Cater and wife, Angie of Rayville, LA; grandchildren, Jason Martin-Nez, Corbin Cater, Ryno Martin-Nez, Chase Cater, Caroline Cater, and Mike Martin-Nez Rainwater; great grandchild, Blake Taylor; sisters, Valerie Cox of Nashville, AR, Margaret “Marty” Williams of Rayville, LA, Ernestine Murrill of Mobile, AL and Johnnie Jean Sanford of Coden, AL; host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Will Ed Jones, Sr., Steve Deville, Roger Stockton, Ricky Goodman, Larry Wilson, and Ben Newson.

Honorary pallbearers were the Class of 1951 of Rayville High School.
