• A benefit account to help defray medical expenses has been established for the Rev. Billy Vaughn, pastor of Bonita Baptist Church. Donations may be made at any branch of Ouachita Independent Bank.
• Rayville Masonic Lodge #209 will meet at 7 p.m. July 8. The lodge meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
• Homecoming for the Richland Parish Training School and Esther Toombs High School will be held July 8-11. Anyone interested in participating should contact Gloria King at 878-2093 or Diana Berry at 878-5393.
• A community gospel explosion will be held at 6 p.m. July 9 in the white tent in front of Kaye’s Foods in Rayville. For more information, contact Abundant Life at 728-9274.
• A Tea Party Rally will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 10 at the West Monroe Convention Center.
• The tenth annual 2-K/Helping Hands Trail Ride will be held July 10 at the 2-K Stables, 836 Waller Road, Epps. Events will include a hay ride, horse show, music and end of the trail ride dance. • A benefit car wash and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 10 at Cross Keys Bank in Rayville. Proceeds will help send the Rayville Angels to the state championship July 16 in Alexandria.
• King Soloman B.C. will host its annual Men and Women’s Day program at 6 p.m. July 11.
• Archibald Church of Christ will host Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 12-16. Classes will be provided for all ages and a hamburger supper will be served July 16. The church is located two and a half miles east of Archibald on Hwy. 856.
• The Rayville Angels 9 and 10 year-old girls are going to state in softball July 16 in Alexandria. To help raise funds a hamburger lunch fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rayville Courthouse. Tickets are $5.
• Nominate an outstanding family or family-friendly business for recognition at The Wellspring’s 15th Annual Celebrate the Family Awards. Nominations are due by noon July 16. Criteria and nomination forms are available at www.wellspringalliance.org or by calling 651-9314.
• Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 107 Francis St., Rayville, will host a Solo Revue at 6 p.m. July 17.
• St. Peter Rock M.B.C. will host a holy convocation at 3 p.m. July 18.
• A Hunter’s Education Class will be held from 6-9 p.m. July 19-21. For more information, or to register, call the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office at 728-2071.
• The Northeast Disaster Relief Ragball Tournament will be held at 8:30 a.m. July 24 at W.C. Dixie Youth Park in Oak Grove. The entry fee is $100 per team. Concessions will be available. For more information, call Curtis Butler at 428-2992 or 366-2800 or Howard Ainsworth at 428-2451.
• The National Family Caregiver Support Program can provide personal services at no cost to caregivers through the Council on Aging. Please contact the Richland Voluntary COA at 728-2646 or United Home Services at 329-9264 or 888-799-9968 to learn more about the program.
• Rayville High School’s earliest Palmetto issue is the 1927 edition. The school is missing the books for 1929-1941, 1943-1945, 1970, 1974, 1982, 1983, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2002 and 2003. Anyone who would like to donate a copy of any of these years to RHS is asked to call the school at 728-3296.
